Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia and raised in a small Siberian city, Anastasia Durasova was fascinated by art from a very young age. She started her artistic education at an art school to get the feeling of colors and shape, as well as drawing and painting skills. After finishing art school she incorporated her techniques onto the body instead of a canvas and made her first body paint work at the age of 15.
Anastasia’s early ambition to become a makeup artist began while she was doing her first body paints. Her training began at the age of 17 when she attended the Make Up Atelier Paris School.
In 2000, Anastasia moved to Moscow and started working with a number of established Russian photographers. In time, she collaborated on photo commercials, music videos and eventually beauty and fashion photography.
Anastasia developed her own makeup and body art studio with a strong team of make up artists, hair stylists and body painters to handle large-scale projects. One of them was “We are living on one planet,” a charitable project that involved 53 top Russian celebrities that were body painted into wild animals by Anastasia. Since then she has worked with a distinguished list of clients, including Ecco shoes, MAKE UP FOR EVER, NIKON and Maybelline New York.
In addition, Anastasia has appeared on several Russian TV make-over specials and acted as a makeup/body paint professional guest.
She has served as a beauty advisor and judged body paint competitions. She now writes her own blog about makeup and body art.
Her editorial work can be seen in Interview magazine (Russia), GARAGE magazine, VS, Harper’s Bazaar, L’officiele, Marie Claire, Elle, Magame Figaro, Glamour, VEOIR, Vanity Fair, Details to name a few. Her body paint work can be seen on the covers and pages of various books and CDs.
Client list includes YSL, Maybelline New York, Covergirl, Cutler & Gross, Nicholas Kirkwood, Effy Jewelry, Victoria’s Secret, MAKE UP FOR EVER, Kimberly McDonald, NIKON.
Anastasia worked with photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Platon, Greg Kadel, Chris Colls, Jem Mitchell, Mark Seliger, Kenneth Willardt, Cass Bird, Jim Wright, Henry Leutwyler, Joe McNally, Lacey, Henry Hargreaves and others
Anastasia’s passion for art and painting along with her love for fashion and beauty photography led her to her current home base, New York City, in 2008. Fascinated by the city’s vibrant colors and sounds, she looks forward to her most expression creations.
